SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

TLARGI Undergraduate Scholarships

TLARGI will offer a limited number of $1,000 Undergraduate Scholarships to eligible TLARGI members and their relatives, and to employees of the Southern California rubber industry and their relatives.

 

To be eligible, a graduating high school student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be admitted to an accredited college or university as a full-time student. A college student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university.

 

To be considered for this scholarship, eligible candidates must complete this TLARGI Undergraduate Scholarship Application and mail it to the TLARGI Scholarship Committee Chairman (see contact information below).

TLARGI Memorial Foundation

The TLARGI Memorial Foundation, established through the University of Southern California, grants scholarships of $10,000 per year to students taking industry-related graduate studies through the University of Southern California.

 

If you’re interested in making a contribution to the TLARGI Memorial Foundation, please issue a check made payable to TLARGI, along with the following information:

 

· The person your contribution is in memory of

· Name and address of survivor (if known)

· Your name

LORD Corporation Science Education Scholarships

In our commitment to promote youths to pursue careers in the sciences and engineering fields, TLARGI and LORD Corporation are offering a $2,000 scholarship to a high school senior, selected by TLARGI to be deserving of the award.  

 

High school seniors who are interested in pursuing a degree in the sciences from an accredited four-year program and have maintained a GPA of 3.4/4.0 or higher throughout high school may apply for this scholarship. (Note: Upon acceptance of the scholarship, the recipient is required to show an acceptance letter to such an institution.)

 

Additional criteria includes: Maintenance of honor roll standing throughout high school; community service/volunteer work/research associated with interested field of study in the sciences or engineering; a recommendation letter each from a teacher in the math or science fields, and a guidance counselor or an adult that has worked with the applicant; and an essay on what science means to the applicant and what they hope to achieve with their studies.

 

The recipient of the award will receive $1,000 upon selection. The second $1,000 will be issued when an official transcript showing completion of a minimum of 12 units with an accumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 is received from an accredited four-year college program. The recipient will also able to apply to LORD for future internship programs that the company may offer.

Rubber Division, ACS, Scholarships

The American Chemical Society is offering three $5,000 Undergraduate Scholarships to juniors or seniors majoring in the sciences with the intention to work in the industry after graduation. 

 

A. Wayne Place Memorial Scholarship 

In 1991, the Rubber Division, ACS, established the A. Wayne Place Memorial Scholarship in memory of the former chairman of Jasper Rubber. This scholarship, funded by Jasper Rubber, provides an annual stipend to employees of the rubber industry to further their education in polymer technology. Production personnel are eligible for the scholarship.

LORD CORPORATION SCIENCE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

Kaitlyn San Diego

LORD Corporation Science Education Scholarship for a high school senior – recipient: Kaitlyn San Diego. Kaitlyn graduated from Woodcrest Christian High School in Riverside. She is a freshman at the University of California Riverside majoring in Biochemistry. Kaitlyn will receive this one-year scholarship which is funded by LORD Corporation and administered by TLARGI.

Caroline Johnson

Caroline Johnson is a junior at the University of Kansas. Caroline is majoring in Psychology. She is the daughter of Mark Johnson of West American Rubber Company.

Siattle Olvera

Siattle Olvera is the daughter of Scott Kearns of R D Abbott. Siattle is a junior at the University of California Santa Barbara, and she is majoring in Environmental Studies.

Sara Jenkins

Sara Jenkins is a junior at Boston University. Sarah is majoring in Engineering. She is the daughter of Tom Jenkins of R D Abbott.

Montana Kearns

Montana Kearns is the daughter of Scott Kearns of R D Abbott. Montana is a sophomore at the University of California Santa Barbara, and she is majoring in Environmental Studies.

Julie Harmon

Julie Harmon is the daughter of Jim Harmon of H M Royal of California. Julie is a junior at the University of California San Diego, and she is majoring in Economics.

Gerardo Ramirez

Gerardo Ramirez is the nephew of Rick Ziebell of R D Abbott. Gerardo is a junior at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and he is majoring in Engineering.

Alexis Danzo

Alexis Danzo is a junior at the University of Alabama. Alexis is majoring in Apparel & Textiles. She is the daughter of Mark Danzo of Maverix Solutions.

Aidan James Olvera

Aidan James Olvera is the son of Scott Kearns of R D Abbott. Aidan is a freshman at the University of California Riverside, and he is majoring in Physics.

Claire Vansell

Claire Vansell is a freshman at George Washington University. Claire is majoring in International Business. She is the daughter of Chris Vansell of Mission Rubber.

Carolyn Harmon

Carolyn Harmon is a freshman at the University of California Santa Barbara. Carolyn is majoring in Sociology. She is the daughter of Jim Harmon of H M Royal of California.

Ashley Peterman is a junior at Rice University. Ashley is majoring in Kinesiology. She is the daughter of Mike Peterman of Santa Fe Rubber.
